Community News Update

10 May 2022

Message from Mayor Lake

Mayor Lisa Lake

On behalf of Cumberland Council, I would like to send best wishes to all mums in Cumberland, and hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day over the weekend. It’s an important day to honour, celebrate and thank mothers and carers who all work tirelessly to support their families and contribute to our wonderful community.

Council is seeking feedback on the concept designs for the upcoming construction of the Merrylands Civic Square. Council is seeking your response to this exciting new project, which is underway in the heart of Merrylands Town Centre. This site is on track to unveil a vibrant new multifunctional recreation space for use and enjoyment by locals and visitors. You can take a look at the concept and leave your feedback by visiting: www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/square

If you have recently used Council’s Seniors and Disability Services in the past year, Council would like to hear from you. Cumberland City Council’s Seniors and Disability Annual Customer Survey for 2022 is now open to provide your comments and feedback. This will help us improve our services in the future and ensure that you receive the best experience possible. Submissions close on Wednesday 1 June at 11pm, have your say now by visiting the website https://cumberland.engagementhub.com.au/seniors-disability-survey-2022

Council is also seeking comment on the draft Delivery Program and Operational Plan which are currently on public exhibition. By reviewing and providing feedback, residents can help us improve infrastructure and services, support the local sector, including small business, jobs growth and more. Residents can also comment on Council’s projects and programs that will be undertaken over the next 12 months as outlined in the Operational Plan. This also includes details of the annual budget, revenue policy, rates and fees and charges. I encourage you all to take the time to look over these documents by visiting: https://haveyoursay.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/planning-reporting and give your valuable feedback.

Lastly, Council is very excited to be hosting Good Vibes Granville, a first of its kind event due to start next week. From 16 May to 22 May a section of South Street, Granville’s main street, will be transformed into a vibrant and interactive hub, showcasing the diverse food, dynamic music and art scene. Part of the street will be closed off to cars, inviting people to wander through this space to meet, interact and enjoy the public space together. Start planning your visit now by heading to www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/event/good-vibes-granville
