Wentworthville Community Garden

I would like to congratulate the volunteers at the Wentworthville Community Garden for taking home 25 out of their 36 entries at the 2024 Sydney Royal Easter Show. The Garden won 11 first places, 9 second places and 5 third places in the fruit and vegetable section of the Flower and Garden competition, as well as placing first and second in the community garden categories. The quality of their produce is always outstanding. Well done to all involved!

Murugan Temple Chariot Festival

I recently attended the Sydney Murugan Temple in Mays Hill for the annual Chariot Festival of Lord Murugan. The 11-day festival attracts more than four thousand people to the temple to receive blessings and take part in rituals and traditions. It was a lovely experience to join our community members in this wonderful celebration.

With Deputy Mayor Hamed, Clr Colman and community members at Council’s 2024 Iftar Celebration Dinner.

2024 Youth Week

Council is celebrating Youth Week until Sunday 21 April with a range of free activities for young people aged 12 to 25. The annual event is held across the State in April every year for young people, and this year’s theme Express, Empower and Get Loud encourages young people to express themselves, share ideas, showcase their talents and most importantly – have fun! Council’s activities include a Youth Entrepreneurial Workshop and more.

Iftar Celebrations

Council hosted its 2024 Iftar Celebration Dinner at the Granville Centre recently. The evening was held to mark the tradition of breaking fast during the holy month of Ramadan. It was lovely to host the event for the community, with people from different backgrounds and faiths including religious leaders, State MPs and community members coming together in unity and tradition.
