Mayor for Cumberland City Steve Christou is calling for nominations for Cumberland City’s Local Citizen of the Year and Community Pride Awards.

These awards aim to recognise and honour our local heroes who generously dedicate their time to help make Cumberland City a great place to live.

“With the many challenges and restrictions we have faced and continue to face this year, we are proud to see members of our community showing incredible support and initiative to ensure that Cumberland City residents feel that they are part of a caring and inclusive community,” Mayor Christou said.

The winners in each category below will be named on Australia Day 2021.

  • Local Citizen of the Year
  • Local Young Citizen of the Year
  • Local Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Community Pride Award (individual)
  • Community Pride Award (school/group/organisation)

“Last year I had the pleasure of meeting genuine and deserving candidates including the Auburn Hospital Recyclers,” said Mayor Christou.

The Auburn Hospital Recyclers are a group of dedicated environmentalists that founded the Auburn Hospital Recycling for the Future Project and were among the other winners in their categories. The group continues to find new ways to recycle items and reduce waste.

“Please take the time to complete a Nomination Form and let us know who is a deserving Cumberland City candidate in one of this year’s categories.”

Nomination forms and criteria are available online at www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/coty

Nominations for the 2021 awards are now open and will close on 2 November 2021.
