Residents of Cumberland Council have many options to safely dispose of dangerous household waste.
Under the Mobile Community Recycling Service, you can organise for a vehicle to come to your home to take away problem wastes such as BBQ and gas bottles, paint cans, household batteries, motor oils, light globes, cooking oils and smoke detectors. The service is free.
This service helps to reduce these types of dangerous waste items going into our landfill or alternatively into our wastewater systems.
There are a number of other options to safely dispose of problem waste. For instance, you can dispose of:
- Electronic waste at drop-off days held during the year
- Syringes at some council service centres or local pharmacies
- Old mobile phones at Mobile Muster
- Old printer cartridges at Cartridges 4 Planet Ark
