As part of the Australian and New Zealand Botanic Gardens Open day initiative, Cumberland Council is opening the gates to our most beautiful park, AUBURN BOTANIC GARDENS with a host of free children’s activities, educational tours and talks and a free plant giveaway for Cumberland residents.

OPEN DAY PROGRAM
CAMERON THE CATERPILLARS PLAYGROUND 11am to 4pm
- Giant caterpillar inflatable course for children 11 years and under
- Magical enchanted garden maze
- Fairy face painting
- Massive Native Tree plant giveaway for locals and potting workshop for kids
BOTANIC GARDENS EDUCATIONAL TOURS
- Tour of the famous Japanese Gardens concluding with a beautiful traditional Koto Performance at the gardens famous Moon Gate (3.30pm)
- Learn about the Gardens local residents in the Australian Fauna exhibit tour (11am)
DOWN BY THE BILLABONG
As part of our reconciliation week program, the Gardens Australian Bush area will play host to a number of activities celebrating Aboriginal culture in the area. Including;
- Free Bushtucker tasting (12pm to 1pm)
- Culture talk on scar trees and living in the Australia Bush By Uncle Lex (12pm)
- Indigenous Kids Dance and Song workshop 1pm to 2pm
ART and RECONCILIATION @ PEACOCK GALLERY
Sitting within the Auburn Botanic Gardens precinct is the Local Peacock Gallery. Join us between 10am to 4pm to see the winners and an amazing array of local talent at the Cumberland Art and Photography Awards exhibition.
Free indigenous art workshops from 12pm to 2pm.
Entry to Auburn Botanic Gardens is free for residents and $5.00 for non-residents. All activities are free on entry to the gardens.
THIS EVENT IS PICNIC FRIENDLY – WE DO NOT HAVE FOOD STALLS AT THE EVENT.
The Auburn Botanic Gardens and Peacock Gallery is an accessible site however some areas of the Japanese Gardens will be difficult to navigate in a wheelchair or for those with walking aids

Auburn Botanic Gardens is a 5-minute drive from Auburn Train Station.
Parking is available at the gardens on Chiswick Road, there is also space for private tour buses to park,
You can get to Auburn Botanic Gardens on the Cumberland Council Loop bus
Auburn Botanic Gardens does not have a café on site. Families and patrons are encouraged to bring picnic lunches to the event.
The closest eating option is the Auburn Tennis centre
