A workshop for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal workers
who want to improve the way they interact and work with
Aboriginal communities, facilitated by Sigrid Herring
(Aboriginal Educator and Trainer).
In this workshop you will learn about the following:

  • Introduction to Aboriginal cultures and cultural concepts like the connection to Country, kinship systems, attachment and family life
  • History as experienced by Aboriginal people from 1788 to present
  • Identity and what it means to be an Aboriginal person and community member in a dominant culture
  • Acculturative stress and the contemporary trauma context for Aboriginal people
  • Cultural resilience and strength
  • Strategies for working effectively with Aboriginal people and their communities
