There are currently different systems in place for paying rates in either the former Holroyd area or the former Auburn council area and Woodville ward.
You can pay your Council Rates or invoices online Using Visa or Mastercard.
Payments are processed through a secured site and information will only be used for the purpose of this transaction.
A service fee of up to 0.8% applies.
Former Holroyd Area - other payment options
You can pay in person at Council’s Customer Service Centre at 16 Memorial Avenue, Merrylands.
Please bring your whole Rate Notice with you. You can pay by cash, cheque, EFTPOS, MasterCard or Visa. A credit card service fee of up to 0.8% applies.
Office hours are Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4:30pm.
Over the phone
Pay 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for the cost of a local call, with the exception of mobile phones which will be charged at mobile phone rates, by calling 1300 858 459. MasterCard or Visa cards are accepted.
A credit card service fee of up to 0.8% applies.
BPAY allows you the opportunity to pay over the phone, or through the Internet, from your cheque, savings or credit card account (Visa or MasterCard only).
Please quote Biller Code 5637 and your Reference Number (which is located on the top right-hand side of the Rate Notice).
To make use of this option, you must initially contact your financial institution to ensure the BPAY facility is available at that institution.
Provided you have sufficient available credit or balance, the payment will be processed and you will be issued a receipt number for the bill payment.
This method allows Council to debit your bank/credit union/building society account.
Payments of your rate account via Direct Debit can be quarterly; full payment annually; or by an agreed arrangement with Council of weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments.
The amount payable will be automatically deducted from your nominated account on the due date for payment.
Simply download the former Holroyd direct debit request form (PDF, 406.41 KB) or phone Council on 8757 9000, or visit Council’s Customer Service Centre at 16 Memorial Avenue, Merrylands. Complete and return the application to Cumberland Council.
Simply include your cheque or money order payable to Cumberland Council, together with the detachable deposit slip portion of the rate notice, to:

All correspondence for Council should be posted to Council’s administration office PO Box 42, Merrylands NSW 2160.
Pay at any Commonwealth Bank
Fill in your details on the deposit slip and give the whole Rates Notice to the teller.
They will stamp the top half and give it back to you as your receipt. You do not need to have an account with the Commonwealth Bank and they will not charge a transfer fee.

Pay at any Australia Post
You can pay in person at any Post Office. Please present the notice intact. A paper receipt will be issued.
You can also pay by phone on 13 18 16, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for the cost of a local call, with the exception of mobile phones, which will be charged at mobile phone rates.
You can pay over the internet using POSTbillpay.
Please quote the POSTbillpay code of 0281 and your POSTbillpay Reference number as per the deposit slip on the front of the notice. When making an Australia Post phone payment or internet payments only Mastercard and Visa cards are accepted.
Pay by credit card through Australia Post Billpay
Payments to a maximum of $1,000 can be made using Australia Post Billpay over the Internet using your Mastercard or Visa.
Simply quote Biller Code 0247 along with your customer number, the amount being paid and credit card details.
Pay by Council Direct Debit
Download the application Direct Debit Request Form (PDF, 175.6 KB) or call Cumberland Council’s customer service staff for details on 8757 9000.
Once the form has been received and verified by your financial institution, when a rate payment is due a notice will be forwarded to you indicating the date and the amount which will be deducted from your account.
Please ensure that adequate funds are available on this date to avoid the possibility of additional bank charges.
A direct debit request will be treated as a request for instalment payments by direct debit unless you specify that you wish to pay the full amount of rates on the due date.
At this stage a direct debit cannot be made from a credit card account and cannot be taken over the phone by Council staff.
Pay at any Post Office or Bank
Present your rate notice at any post office or bank. If you pay at a post office or Commonwealth Bank no transfer fee will be charged and you do not need to have an account with the bank. Payment can be made at other banks however a transfer fee may be charged.
Former Auburn Council area and Woodville Ward - other payment options
You may pay your rates in person at Cumberland Council’s Customer Service Centre, located at Civic Place, 1 Susan Street, Auburn between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.
Pay by BPAY and BPAY View
Contact your participating bank, building society or credit union to arrange payment directly from your savings, cheque or credit card account. You will need to provide the biller code 18184 and your reference number which is shown on the front page of your rate notice.
BPAY View: Contact your participating financial institution to register, then you may view and pay your account online. You will need to provide the biller code 18184 and your reference number which is shown on the front page of your rate notice to register for BPAY View.
Pay by phone
You can pay your rates by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phoning the national telephone number 13 18 16. You will need to provide the biller code 0247, your reference number and your credit card details.
Centrelink Customers – Centrepay
If you are a Centrelink customer and wish to use Centrepay to pay your rates, download the Centrepay Deductions form or ask our Customer Services staff for a copy.
This form is also available from Centrelink offices. Centrepay is a voluntary, free service to Centrelink customers. The money you specify is transferred from your Centrelink payments, pensions and allowances.
