Australia Day celebrations will return to Holroyd Gardens in 2018, bigger and better than Cumberland Council’s inaugural event in 2017, which attracted more than 15,000 people.
Two amazing musicians are headlining a fun schedule – Triple J Unearthed’s, Thandi Phoenix and 2015 X-Factor winner, Cyrus – culminating in an impressive fireworks display.
“Australia Day is about acknowledging and celebrating the contribution that every Australian makes to our contemporary and dynamic nation,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.
“Australia Day is for all Australians; from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - who have been here for more than 65,000 years - to those who have recently arrived from all corners of the globe to call Australia home.
“Cumberland is a place which represents what it truly means to be a part of Australia.
"As a community, we live together as people from many different backgrounds and cultures.
“The community’s vision for the future of Cumberland is one where everyone is welcome, feels they belong and can succeed, no matter where their personal stories began.
“Australia Day brings together our local community to celebrate what makes us all a part of this wonderful community and country.
“So I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you, your family and your friends, to join in the Australia Day celebrations being held at Holroyd Gardens from 5-9pm on Friday 26 January.
“There will be thrilling amusement rides, delicious food, awesome acts, fireworks and family-friendly fun – something for everyone.”
