‘Fun 4 Kids’ is a free school holiday event for toddlers and children of Cumberland. This event is held throughout the year at different locations across Cumberland, based around a variety of themes.

Fun 4 Kids ‘Winter Wonderland’ will be held on Friday 13 July 2018 at the beautiful Central Gardens, Paton Street, Merrylands between 10:00am and 3:00pm. This year’s program boasts fun free Winter entertainment ensured to keep all children entertained this July school holidays.

Program

Free activities (operating 10:00am to 3:00pm):

  • Synthetic ice skating rink (bookings essential – limited availability) (available only for children aged under 13 years of age living within the Cumberland Council area)
  • Inflatable snow globe
  • Decorate your own chocolate cake penguin
  • ‘Frozen’ jumping castle
  • ‘Winter’ face painting
  • Igloo café* with ice carving demonstrations between 11.30am and 1.30pm
  • Pony rides
  • Farmyard animals
  • Emergency services display
  • Roving winter entertainment
  • Winter crafts
  • Delicious winter comfort foods*

Please note that all activities close at 3.00pm. Queues for activities will close by 2:00pm. Some activities have limited stock and may close prior to 3pm if stock runs out.

Ice Skating

The ice skating rink will operate from 10.00am until 3.00pm. Bookings essential and tickets are limited. Free tickets are only on offer for children 13 years or under who live within the Cumberland Council area. Further information and ticket bookings will be available here from Monday 25 June 2018.

Please note this is artificial ice, not real ice.

Terms and Conditions

  • Bookings strictly close at 4.30pm on Wednesday 11 July 2018.
  • Tickets for ice skating are only for children aged 13 years or under who live in the Cumberland Council area.
  • Limit of 4 tickets per parent/guardian, with one skating session per child.
  • Parents/ Guardians must be present at all times, but are NOT permitted to skate.
  • Once a booking is submitted, time changes cannot be made.
  • We suggest arriving at the ice skating rink at least 15 minutes prior to your skate time.
  • Late arrivals cannot be catered for on the day.
  • There will be no tickets available at the event. 
  • Tickets must be presented on the day via printed copy or on a mobile device.

Getting there

Free shuttle buses will be in operation to transport patrons to and from the event site. Our friendly staff at each stop will assist you in boarding the buses. Buses will commence collecting patrons at each stop from 9.30am, and the last buses will depart Central Gardens at 3.30pm (please do not wait for the last bus due to limited seating).

Bus #1 (runs approximately every 20 minutes):

  • Merrylands Train Station, Military Road, Merrylands
  • Central Gardens, Merrylands Road, Merrylands

Bus #2 (runs every 15 minutes):

  • Merrylands Park, Burnett Street, Merrylands (additional parking, shuttle bus will depart from inside the car park near the Basketball courts)
  • Central Gardens, Merrylands Road, Merrylands

Bus #3 (runs every 30 minutes):

  • Auburn Train Station, South Parade, Auburn
  • Central Gardens, Merrylands Road, Merrylands

Catching the train? Free shuttle buses depart from Auburn Train Station and Merrylands Train Station. To plan your trip by public transport visit Transport NSW.

Riding your bicycle? There are bicycle racks at the venue for you to chain your bicycle to.

Travelling by car? We encourage parking at Merrylands Park, Burnett Street, Merrylands, and catch the free shuttle bus running to and from the event. There is limited free parking in streets surrounding Central Gardens. Council’s Parking Patrol Officers will be patrolling the area to ensure and enforce legal parking.

Accessible parking is located on Paton Street. If you wish to arrange disabled parking for any vehicles or vans please contact Council’s Events Coordinator on 9840 9966.

Auburn Botanic Gardens is a 5-minute drive from Auburn Train Station.

Parking is available at the gardens on Chiswick Road, there is also space for private tour buses to park,

Accessibility

This event is accessible.

There is accessible car parking located on Paton Street, Merrylands. Due to limited availability, we encourage securing an accessible parking space by calling Council’s Events Coordinator on 8757 9000.

The free shuttle bus from Merrylands Park and the free shuttle bus from Merrylands Train Station are both wheel chair friendly.

There are accessible toilets located at the venue.

‘The Quiet Zone’ is located in the Norrie Maley Kiosk, and available for anyone who may need to take a break at the event, if required. The space is for everyone, including people with a disability and their carers, seniors, people who need a space to pray, parents and children and anyone else who may find this quiet space useful.
