Cumberland City Council has launched a 'Shop Local' campaign as the Coronavirus continues to have a significant impact on local businesses.

“If you are a local food premises or essential service that is currently eligible to trade, we want local residents to support you and we've created a dedicated page on our website so residents can see who is trading and connect with your services,” said Mayor Steve Christou.

“Coronavirus is decimating our economy and it's taking an enormous toll on retailers, restaurants and local enterprise.

“I want small business owners to know they are not on their own and Council will do everything in its power to help them come through to the other side of this. We also want residents to do their bit and support local businesses as much as they can."

This initiative is free and will run for the period of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Other ways that Council is supporting small business includes:

- Council’s Scheduled Business Workshop and One-on-one Business Advisory Services continues through webinar and video/phone. For details, visit: www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/business

- Promoting Infection Prevention and Control eLearning Modules. ELearning modules have been developed by Australian Commission on Safety & Quality in Health Care. A certificate of completion can be obtained once all modules completed. Additional measures to support small business will be proposed at the next Council meeting on 1 April 2020.
