Cumberland Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021 offers a framework to guide Council in its responsibilities to ensure people with disability have full and equal access to the facilities, programs, services and information that Council provides. This plan sets forth strategies to positively shape Council practices over the next four years to ensure greater inclusion of people with disability, carers and families. The Plan is based on four key focus areas, nominated by people with disability, as being of primary importance in creating an inclusive community:
- Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
- Creating liveable communities
- Supporting access to employment
- Improving systems and processes
The Cumberland Disability Inclusion Action Plan was developed in consultation with more than 1,913 people across Cumberland, including people with disability, carers, families, service providers, advocacy groups, Council Committees and interagency networks.
