School Holiday Vacation Care Program

We have prepared a program filled with exciting activities, theme days and workshops, providing a safe and homelike environment for school-aged children.

Programs, Centre Locations and Dates

The following school holiday programs run from Monday 30 September 2019 to Friday 11 October 2019.

There are 3 centres with separate programs for 5 to 9 years, 5 to 12 years and 10 to 13 year olds.

All centres are open from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Program Details

5 to 9 Years - Guildford West OOSH - 50 Princess Street, Guildford West

This program is for children aged 5 to 9 years (Single Digits).

Fee and Booking Information

Fees are charged by the day:
  • The 5 to 9 year old program is $55 per day.
  • The 10 to 13 year old program is $60 per day.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is available for all eligible families. Contact Centrelink to register

Bookings close on Friday 13 September 2019. A late booking fee of $37 applies after this date per child, per centre.

You need to register and book online via the SmartCentral website.

The SmartCentral website requires you to create an account, in order to login and use the booking system.

Activity Details

Wacky Science Day - Arrive by 10am - For Single Digits

Please pack morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, water and a wide brim or bucket hat.

A day more than just whiz, bang, poof and pop. Science is the study of the world around us. A scientific day spent at the centre, the children will explore the wonderful world around them as they observe, describe, experiment, make mess and get their hands dirty with science while learning that simple household products can be used to conduct wacky science experiments.

Planetarium of Stars - Arrive by 9:30am - For Single and Double Digits

Experience Space from the Earth - this two hour workshop held at the centre will provide the opportunity for the children to travel through the universe with this awe-inspiring Earth and Space science experience that will engage, amaze and inspire! This space adventure will take children on a journey to discover the Solar System, planets, stars, lunar cycles, seasons, constellations and much more. Children will be immersed in a stunning 360-degree movie whilst taking a trip through the Solar System, onwards to the very edge of our Galaxy, and then come back down to Earth to find out what’s in the sky tonight. The children will learn about astronomy, space and science while participating in this fun and interactive workshop.

Movies - Arrive by 8:30am - For Single and Double Digits

The children will be heading to the Reading Cinemas at Auburn to watch the latest movie release. Upon returning to the centre, the children will be encouraged to participate in some planned performing arts activities. The aim of the day is for children to build friendships, confidence and to have fun.

Team Trials and Trivia Day - Arrive by 10am - For Single Digits

How far can you fly a paper airplane? What is your aim like? Can you remember which character rubbed the lamp in Aladdin? Test these skills and more during a fun day of Teams Trials and Trivia! Throughout the day, the children will be placed in groups to work as teams to compete in games of trials and trivia. Children will test their knowledge, fine and gross motor skills and teamwork while engaging in a variety of different activities both indoors and outdoors.

Robotics - Arrive by 9:30am - For Single and Double Digits

The children will enjoy a day at the centre where they will explore hands on activities through science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They will put their knowledge to the test and engage in group and individual challenges. They will develop new knowledge and important problem solving skills.

Carpentry for Kids - Arrive by 9:30am - For Single Digits

Please pack morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, water and a wide brim or bucket hat.

The children will engage in activities that will teach them practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on the safe use of hand tools. In addition to this, the children will learn a wide range of valuable carpentry skills such as measuring, fractions, fastening, sanding, shaping, assembly and painting. Hand in hand with the practical skills children will need to use their reasoning skills, applied mathematics, problem solving, craftsmanship, fine motor skills, respect for tools and patience to engage in this activity. This workshop will empower children to become independent thinkers, build confidence, self-esteem and a repertoire of practical skills that will last a lifetime via a unique hands-on experience in a safe and supported environment.

Fitness for Kids - Arrive by 10am - For Single Digits

Please pack morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, water and a wide brim or bucket hat. Children must wear enclosed shoes, no slippers.

Fitness program to inspire children to make healthy choices. Healthy eating and physical activity are the core motivators of this day. Things have changed a lot in today’s high-tech world, and ensuring that your child gets enough exercise is critical to their physical and emotional wellbeing. A fun and interactive day for the children to be physically active by participating in activities such as movement and music, Zumba and yoga as well as outdoor activities. There will be several stations with different activities set up outdoors for children to rotate around in a short period of time (usually 8 – 10 minutes) during the day. Benefits of this day will include building endurance, balance, agility and coordination while strengthening the whole body. Children will also participate in healthy cooking experiences to go with the theme of the day.

Trash Percussion - Arrive by 9:30am - For Single Digits

Please pack morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, water and a wide brim or bucket hat. Children are welcome to bring individual snacks, no products containing nuts.

Trash Percussion is a fast paced, vibrant and inclusive style of percussion designed with the view that anything and everything can be a musical instrument. Trash Percussion utilises the philosophy that music is a combination of sound and silence, and is promoted in the belief that everyone can play music. A day organised by the educators at the Centre, the children will be involved in creating sound and music using variety of materials. This loud, fun experience will empower children with a unique approach to music. The children will learn to work together as a team, develop positive social skills, peer interactions, improve memory recall and compose a truly original piece of music of their own using non-traditional instruments.

Fly High - Arrive by 9:30am - For Single Digits

The children will get creative by making kites with resources provided to them and will get the opportunity to discover how wind can lift a kite and make it soar through the air effortlessly. Children will explore ways to increase their kite’s success in the air through researching different designs and methods of launching the kite in the air. The aim of the day is to promote self-confidence, increase independence, encourage fine motor skills and simulate creative thinking.

Colour Run - Arrive by 9:30am - For Double Digits

The Colour Run is a colour crazy day for walkers and runners through a challenging obstacle course. The young people are to wear white shirts and at each activity station they’ll be covered in a different colour; yellow, blue, green, purple and pink, with a “Colour Extravaganza” at the end of the course. The colour dust is natural and safe. Please arrive at the centre no later than 10am. Please pack morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Young Einsteins - Arrive by 10am - For Double Digits

Magic and Wizardy - Arrive by 10am - For Double Digits

The children will be wizards for the day immersed in a fictional world of Quidditch. They will be taught how to manoeuvre their broomsticks around the arena to catch the golden snitch! The children will be given the opportunity to strengthen friendships while testing their Quidditch skills.

Double Digits' Got Talent - Arrive by 9:30am - For Double Digits

A quest to find which children have talents. The children will prepare and practice their act, working on their stage craft and perfecting their performance before the Single Digits children vote for the Double Digits with the most talent. Will we discover the next big talent in the upcoming performance of Double Digits’ Got Talent?
