The Council has adopted this respite program for frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers to enjoy a variety of activities with the intention to prevent premature placement into institutional care. Offering Day Care includes weekly social outings, friendly company over delicious meals and an annual holiday. There is accessible transport, food and more information on services that may benefit the group. Council’s program supports and assists aged and people with disabilities to maintain their independence in the Holroyd community.
Centre-based activities (indoor games, sing-a-long, guest speakers, gentle exercises and theme days) which encourage socialisation include:
- A hot home-cooked meal each day
- Weekly outings and an annual holiday
- Respite for carers as a result of the activities
- Affordable and accessible transport for clients to the service and from home again
- Information on and referrals to other services
Transport to and from the centre is $8 a day, hot meals are $7.30 each and Client outing transport is $14.50.
A family member, friend or advocacy service can contact us on your behalf. An assessment should take place within two weeks of your initial contact and will be completed by the Coordinator who will then inform you within two working days of his/her decision regarding your request for assistance.
