Family Fun Day
Council recently hosted a free family event at the Auburn Centre for Community with hundreds of families joining in the fun. Council runs a number of free activities, services and events for families and children at our Community Centres, including Council’s Auburn Centre for Community, which delivers much needed meetings, events and activity spaces for residents and community groups. It’s a great way to help alleviate some of the cost-of-living pressures impacting families and to build community spirit. The Auburn Centre for Community runs Cake Decorating classes, TAFE NSW Ceramics classes, English and Computer classes, Miniroos for ages 4 to 6 years and Miniroos for ages 7 to 9 years.

Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia 7th Australian National Hindu Conference
On Saturday 20 April I attended the 7th Australian National Hindu Conference at the Novotel in Parramatta. The event was organised by the Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia, which is a community organisation that promotes the principles of unity in diversity, social cohesion and harmony in Australia in partnership with local councils and more. This community conference covered the current status of Hindu society in Australia, identifying challenges and discussing mechanisms to address them. Around 200 delegates from Hindu organisations were present.
Cumberland Police Area Command Awards Ceremony
I recently attended the Cumberland Police Area Command Medal and Awards Presentation Ceremony at the Merrylands Bowling Club. The ceremony was a chance to recognise and thank the NSW Police Officers who have served our community with courage and honour over many years. Congratulations to the winners!
School Holidays Program Wrap Up
The April School Holidays Program which Council hosted between Thursday 11 April and Friday 26 April had a range of free workshops, online events, classes, webinars and sporting activities for those aged 2 to 25 years. On 18 April, we had a very successful Paramedics to the Rescue event at Regents Park Library. Children, young people and their families were kept well entertained with two real-life paramedics showcasing their equipment and teaching children how to handle emergency situations
