Council is rolling out a series of FREE activities and services for children and adults across Community Centres in Cumberland this July.

As part of Council’s Community Centres Programs for Term 3, Council is encouraging residents to get active and sign-up to the range of free activities and programs suitable for adults and children aged over four.

These programs include basketball, yoga, soccer, martial arts, tutoring and homework help, knitting, gardening and more.

Mayor Lisa Lake said the programs are an important way to engage with residents and create social cohesion and community spirit.

“Council is committed to offering free activities and programs to families and residents in Cumberland to encourage and promote physical and mental health wellbeing and social interaction,” she said.

“Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates that monthly household spending has increased by 6 percent, and at least 22 percent of households in Cumberland are considered low-income households so we know that there will be some families that are struggling to afford to enrol their children into extra-curricular activities. These programs mean children won’t have to miss out on learning new skills, making new friends and engaging with our community.”

Selected programs are available at Auburn, Berala, Guildford, Wentworthville, Toongabbie and Greystanes Community Centres starting from Monday 17 July – Friday 22 September.
