Community News Update

15 March 2022

Message from Mayor Lake

Later this month, we will be celebrating our valued senior community members in our Seniors Festival. This is a time to acknowledge the experience and wisdom of our senior residents and the contributions they have made to shaping our values and way of life. Council will be delivering an engaging mix of events and activities, which I encourage you to take part in. To view the full program, pick up a brochure from one of the Council administration buildings or Libraries or visit www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/seniors-festival

Council has received many resident reports of damage to our local roads following the torrential rain and storms. Council staff are doing their best to attend to these repairs and have already repaired over 430 potholes in the last 2 weeks. Council will continue to actively patrol our local area to assess the full extent of the damage and fix potholes as quickly as possible. If residents are experiencing issues resulting from damaged roads or footpaths, I encourage you to report to this to Council by calling Customer Service on 8757 9000 or reporting it instantly via Council’s Snap Send Solve App.

Lastly, did you know that road toll relief is available to owners of privately registered vehicles who are frequent toll road users ? This relief provides free or half-price vehicle registration for drivers who have spent over the yearly threshold on tolls in the previous financial year. Apparently, recent NSW government figures show that hundreds of eligible motorists within the Cumberland local government area are missing out on claiming this relief. I encourage everyone who is eligible to make this claim and reduce your cost of living. For more information visit service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/claim-your-toll-relief
