About the exhibition A link, a loop, a circle

Curated by Talia Smith and featuring artists Elizabeth Pulie, Teelah George, Hayley Pigram, Areez Katki, Blake Lawrence, Chun Yin Rainbow Chan, Amy Claire Mills, Sue Jo Wright, Edwina Green, Kevina Jo Smith, Sayd Abdali in collaboration with Jane Théau, Nasaphah Nasaphah.

This is a group exhibition that brings together contemporary artists from Australia and New Zealand to explore the ways in which the medium of textiles is woven throughout their varying practices. Each artist uses textiles to share their own point of view on the world and how we connect and interact with each other, community, culture and history.

Join us for the open weekend of A link, a loop, a circle exhibition featuring a d/Deaf-led exhibition tour and open discussion in the gallery as well as several drop in and bookable workshops.

12pm to 1pm - Artist Sue Jo Wright in conversation with curator Talia Smith

Join a d/Deaf-led exhibition tour and open discussion in the gallery with artist-in-residence Sue Jo Wright and the exhibition's curator, Talia Smith. Auslan interpreters will be available for this tour and discussion.

This is a drop in workshop.

1pm to 3pm - Artist Sue Jo Wright creative textiles based workshop

Join artist-in-residence Sue Jo Wright in the gallery’s Artist in Residency Studio for a dabble in creating a collaborative textile based work. Auslan interpreters will be available for this workshop.

1pm to 3pm - FLENK collective drop in workshop in the gallery

Celebrating the opening of this new exhibition, we invite families and friends to come and learn about the exhibition and connect to artworks during this drop in session. This hands on activity session will be hosted by FLENK Collective in the gallery, who will encourage you to respond to the artworks in playful ways with activities that are open to all ages and abilities.

Sunday 16 May 2021

12pm to 3pm - FLENK collective banner workshop

Each artist featuring in this exhibition uses textiles to share their own point of view on the world and how we connect and interact with each other, community, culture and history. Join the FLENK collective for a hands on session engaging with textile mediums to create a fabric banner that holds an important message you would like to share with your community.

Note: Tickets ($10 per person) are essential.

Each workshop will be limited to 20 participants at any one time.
