Planning Proposals

A planning proposal is a request to amend a Local Environmental Plan (LEP) through the ‘Gateway’ process.

Planning Proposals (Rezoning Requests)

A planning proposal is a request to amend a Local Environmental Plan (LEP) through the ‘Gateway’ process. A planning proposal describes the outcome and justification for an LEP amendment. It is the key part of the process for making an LEP, as set out under Division 3.4 of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The Cumberland Local Environmental Plan 2021 provides the legislative framework for land use and development in the Cumberland Local Government Area through land use zones and planning controls. The Cumberland Local Environmental Plan 2021 consist of a written instrument and a series of maps. Anyone wishing to propose an amendment to the Cumberland Local Environmental Plan 2021 should contact Council prior to lodging an application to discuss the process, information requirements and the merits of what is proposed through the Scoping Proposal process.
