Phillips Park Upgrade
Phillips Park is located at Dalley Street, Lidcombe.
The newly upgraded park includes:
- Play Equipment: Designed to cater to a wide range of ages and abilities, including nature play, interactive elements, and high-accessibility pieces. Installation of rubber and mulch soft fall in the children’s playground as well as bench seats, lounges, sandstone block seats, bubbler bike racks and signs.
- Shade and Heat Management: Installation of shade structures, shade tree planting, access to water, and the use of light-coloured materials to reduce heat and UV exposure during summer months.
- Accessibility: Focus on making the playground accessible for both users and their caregivers.
- Learn to Ride Loop: A dedicated loop for children on smaller bicycles and scooters, connecting to the wider active transport network, and supported by infrastructure like bike racks and bubblers.
- Walking Loop: A perimeter walking loop to promote regular exercise and support active lifestyles. A shared concrete path and 1.2m wide footpath.
- Social Spaces: Ancillary spaces and facilities designed for social gatherings, youth engagement, sport spectator seating and celebrations.
The project was funded by Council and the Commonwealth (Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts) through the Investing in Our Community Program.
