Community Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisory Committee

Advises Council on Community Wellbeing and Inclusion in Cumberland.

Committee objectives

The purpose of the Committee is to:

  • Inform Council decision-making in relation to policies, strategies, service delivery, and engagement practices that promote inclusion, wellbeing, safety and social equity in the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA).
  • Provide strategic advice to Council on matters relating to access and inclusion for people with disability, older people, carers, and other vulnerable community members.
  • Assist Council to identify and respond to community needs in the areas of safety, crime prevention, homelessness, ageing, accessibility, and social isolation.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders, service providers, advocacy bodies, and
    community groups to promote health, wellbeing, and inclusion.
  • Support the development of initiatives and infrastructure that enhance access, safety, dignity, and social participation for all community members, including people with disability, older persons, carers, people experiencing homelessness, and those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable or marginalised community members and propose strategies to address these.
  • Implementation and evaluation of Council’s DIAP (Disability Inclusion Access Plan) and Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan.
