Youth, Recreation and Sport Advisory Committee

Raises the profile of young people living in Cumberland and advises on activities.

Committee objectives

The purpose of the Committee is to:

  • Assist with Council decision-making in relation to policies, programs, service delivery, communication methods, and engagement practices concerning youth, recreation, and sport within the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA).
  • Assist Council in consulting and responding to issues affecting young people and recreational and sporting communities in the Cumberland LGA.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration among youth advisory bodies, sporting organisations, recreational groups, and community organisations operating within the Cumberland area.
  • Provide strategic advice to help inform Council decision-making related to youth engagement, recreational activities, sports development, and associated infrastructure and facilities.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

Cumberland City Council acknowledges the Darug Nation and People as Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA) is situated and pays respect to Aboriginal Elders both past, present and future. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. Cumberland City Council also acknowledges other Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander Peoples living in the Cumberland LGA and reaffirms that we will work closely with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to advance reconciliation within the area.
