Creating Change One Seed at a Time

Council aims to protect our native endemic species for future generations by encouraging private landowners and residents to become stewards of threatened species and communities in Cumberland.

Protecting Rare and Threatened Flora

Cumberland City Council is taking vital steps to safeguard our unique and threatened native plant communities. By collecting seeds from both council reserves and private properties, we're preserving the genetic diversity of these precious species for generations to come.

We're also empowering local landowners to become environmental stewards through education and hands-on support, because every individual plant plays a role in protecting our ecological heritage.

Together, we can protect Cumberland’s natural legacy.

Free Native Plants

Residents are invited to register their interest in receiving free native plants, carefully propagated as part of our ongoing sustainability initiative, Creating Change: One Seed at a Time.

Successful participants will receive their plant in Summer of 2026.
