Big news! Council adopted its new Delivery Program for 2025–2029, allocating nearly $400 million over the next four years to deliver major community infrastructure and improvements.
A significant $92 million will be invested this financial year to kick start key projects, such as:
- Guildford Swim Centre Upgrade: New outdoor pool and indoor program pool
- The new Laurie Ferguson Splash Park is coming to Granville Park, the perfect spot to cool off and have fun for free
- Town Centre upgrades across the Cumberland LGA that will bring more greenery, better public spaces, and more attractive streets, designed especially for our community
- A new high-performance basketball training facility at Wyatt Park, with two additional indoor courts and upgraded amenities
- Nemesia Street Park upgrade in Greystanes with two brand new netball courts, a mini practice court, an amenities block, plus fresh landscaping, lighting and pathways
- Duck River Regional Playground: an inclusive and accessible playspace next to the Auburn Botanic Gardens
- A new Hyland Road sporting complex in Greystanes
- $1m Council commitment to the upgrade of Lidcombe Oval
There’s also significant investment in renewing local roads, footpaths, parks, sports grounds and public buildings across the area. This budget reflects the community’s priorities and delivers on the vision established through extensive consultation.

Refugee Week
The Granville Centre was buzzing with energy on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, as Council hosted a vibrant celebration for Refugee Week, embracing this year’s theme: ‘Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community’.
The event showcased powerful poetry readings by artists who have experienced life as refugees, moving local art displays telling stories of resilience, and a rich mix of music and cultural performances. Community members also connected with local services supporting refugees and asylum seekers. The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the strength, diversity, and unity of the Cumberland refugee community
National Tree Day
Council in partnership with Planet Ark is inviting the community to take part in Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event on Sunday, 27 July 2025, from 10am to 12noon. This FREE family-friendly event offers a chance to get involved in planting over 2,000 native trees, shrubs, and ground covers across five sites in Cumberland.
Participants can choose from:
- Campbell Hill Pioneer Reserve, Guildford
- Guilfoyle Park, Regents Park • Marrong Reserve, Pemulwuy
- Holroyd Gardens, Merrylands
- Lytton Street Park, Wentworthville
Basic tree planting equipment will be provided. Please wear closed shoes, bring a hat and a reusable water bottle, and enjoy a free BBQ lunch.

Watchful Eyes Supervise
Council is encouraging parents and carers to be mindful of supervising their children when attending Council community centres, libraries, swim centres, programs and events.
Council is also reminding parents that children under 15 years of age cannot attend a Council swim centre without adult supervision and children under 12 years need an adult to attend one of Council’s libraries.
Remember - Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. Supervise with your eyes.

What's On
Fall and Stroke Prevention Information Session for Seniors
Council is inviting seniors aged 60+ (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), to a FREE and important session focused on two major health concerns for seniors across Australia: falls and strokes.
This event will take place on Thursday, 28 August 2025, from 10am to 12noon, at the Allan G Ezzy Community Centre in Pemulwuy, where seniors will hear from two health experts:
Dr Steven Phu (NSW Fall Prevention and Healthy Ageing Network & NeuRA) on cutting-edge fall prevention strategies.
Stroke survivor and StrokeSafe Speaker Lillian, who will share her powerful personal story, and must-know stroke prevention tips.

Toy Library
Council has expanded the popular Toy Library service beyond its current location at Wentworthville Library to include Granville and Lidcombe Libraries.
This service, previously a paid annual membership, is now free to join, ensuring families in all suburbs have local access to borrow quality toys that support learning and play.
This exciting expansion means more children and carers can enjoy the benefits of the Toy Library, promoting early development, creativity, and connection no matter where they live in Cumberland.

Road Improvement Projects
Council has completed road works along Campbell Hill Road in Guildford which included the installation of a raised crossing threshold and a pedestrian crossing.

Playground Upgrades
Council recently completed playground upgrades at Munro Street Reserve in Greystanes. The space has been revitalised with a full playground upgrade, including new play equipment, perimeter sandstone blocks and landscaping.
