Our annual Australia Day event returns to Holroyd Gardens on Monday, 26 January 2026 from 5pm to 9pm.

Australia Day Celebrations are back for 2026!


Join us at Holroyd Gardens on Monday, 26 January from 5pm to 9pm for an unforgettable evening of celebration and community spirit. 

Get ready for an evening of fun, food, and fireworks as Cumberland comes alive on Australia Day!

Join us for a celebration that brings the whole community together. From live music, cultural performances, children's activities, and a delicious variety of food trucks and market stalls, there is plenty for you, your friends and family to enjoy.

As the sun sets, stick around for the spectacular fireworks finale lighting up the skies. Bring your picnic blanket and soak up the festive atmosphere as we celebrate the spirit, stories, and diversity that makes Australia unique.

Main Stage Program and Fireworks

Time Performing Act Description
5:05pm Welcome to Country Opening ceremony honouring Traditional Custodians.
5:20pm Road Warriors Members have performed with Rose Tattoo, Choirboys, Matt Finish, Swannee, Dragon, and international artists like Richie Sambora and Orianthi. Sydney’s hottest new supergroup hits the stage to rock Cumberland City Council’s Australia Day event.
6:30pm Jayden Rodrigues – Dance Party Hosted by social media sensation and Just Dance Ambassador Jayden Rodrigues. Featuring Rockstar Tash, HOPPER the Hip Hop Kangaroo, and KHLOE the dancing Koala.
7:20pm Chris Sebastian Live performance.
8:40pm Mayoral Address Official address from the Mayor.
8:50pm Fireworks Finale Spectacular closing fireworks display.

Public Transport

We encourage patrons attending the festival to catch public transport.

To plan your trip by public transport visit https://transportnsw.info/#/. Catch the train to Merrylands Station and forget the hassle of finding parking!

Parking

Parking is available in surrounding streets. Please observe parking signs and avoid parking on resident driveways to avoid any infringements.

This event is accessible and suitable for wheelchairs.

Disability parking and toilets are provided.

Road Closures

Pitt Street Merrylands will be closed from 8pm to 10pm and Walpole Street Merrylands will have a partial closure from 8pm to 10pm.

These road closures are in place to assist with the increase in people and movement of attendees. All event activities are contained to the park grounds. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we bring our own food? 

You can bring your own food but why would you? There will be plenty of tasty and affordable food options on the day!  

Are there vegan/vegetarian/gluten free food options? 

Participating food vendors cater for various dietary needs. Please check with the food vendor if you are unsure. 

Can we bring alcohol? 

Holroyd Gardens is an alcohol-free zone. Any alcohol brought onsite will be confiscated by the police.  

Can I smoke or vape at the event?  

Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the gardens. 

Can I bring a shade shelter/marquee? 

For safety reasons you are unable to bring your own shade shelter/marquee to this event. 

Is this event free? 

This event is free to attend, and no tickets or registration is required. 

Is this event 18+? Is this a family friendly event? 

This event is a family friendly event. 

What items are prohibited?  

  • Airhorns and silly string 
  • Animals (except for authorised guide dogs and assistance animals) 
  • Alcohol  
  • Clothing that is Suburb or Gang related 
  • Glass  
  • Fireworks, flares or explosives  
  • Illegal substances 
  • Poles, sticks and banners/flags. 
  • Weapons or knives. 

Is this event pet friendly?  

Pets are not permitted into Holroyd Gardens.  

You can bring your assistance animal into the park, provided you have reasonable proof that it is an assistance animal. One of the following items or documents is sufficient: 

  • A coat, cape, vest, badge or harness or similar visible item worn by the animal that is provided from the accredited organisation and clearly identifies the animal as an assistance animal. 
  • A permit from Transport for NSW, Guide Dogs Australia, mindDog Australia, Assistance Dogs International. 

The person with the assistance animal is responsible for keeping the animal under effective control at all times and removing any faeces deposited by the animal. 

What happens if it rains on the day? 

In the event of adverse weather, Council may choose to cancel or postpone the event. Notification will be provided via council’s social media channels. If you wish to confirm the events status, please call councils events team on 8757 9000. 

Can I be a stallholder?

Are ATMs available on the day? 

No ATMs are available at this event.  All stallholders accept cashless payments. 

Will there be fireworks at this event? 

Yes, the fireworks show will begin at 8.50pm 

What happens to lost property? 

Any lost property handed to security or event staff during the event will be kept at the Event Site Office.  Items not collected during the event will be taken back to Council’s Administration Building if not collected before the event concludes. Items found that are of higher importance such as phones, wallets and ID’s will be provided to NSW Police.
