Event details
Sean Richardson, author of the financial crime thrillers, “Deception Under Maltese Skies’” and “The Maltese Web”, will talk about his affection for Malta and reveal why this fascinating island country is such a great setting for a novel.
Sean was born and raised locally, in Greystanes and married into a local Maltese family. After several holidays to Malta and experiencing the local Maltese culture he fell in love with Malta and became a Maltese citizen. With his wife, Carol, and their sons, they lived and worked in Malta for a family gap year, where he wrote the first draft of the novel, The Maltese Web. He uses Malta as a setting for his thrillers because its unique blend of stunning, dramatic architecture, vibrant culture, and sunlit, yet shadowed, Mediterranean landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for suspenseful stories of crime and intrigue. His work highlights the contrast between the island’s beauty and hidden, deeper secrets.
Sean’s aim in his writing is to tell intriguing stories through the banking industry’s “behind the scenes” characters and situations that usually go unnoticed, until something goes awry with devastating consequences. Through telling the stories of these unseen characters, set in an amazing country, Sean’s intent is to impart the affection he has developed for Malta’s physical beauty and the vibe of its people, and culture.
In his talk Sean will discuss his work, how he wove in his observations and experiences of living in Malta and explore why Malta is a great setting for modern thrillers. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and purchase copies of his books signed by the author.
