Australia Day Celebrations 2019

A day for the whole family at Holroyd Gardens with entertainment and fireworks from 5pm to 9pm.

On Saturday 26 January, Cumberland comes to life for Australia Day in Holroyd Gardens. Enjoy the live entertainment on the main stage, free carnival rides, stalls, children activities and a spectacular Fireworks display.

Kicking off in the late afternoon, Cumberland’s Australia Day Celebration boasts a massive free line up of home grown musical acts and cultural performances. Enjoy the best of the West with Australian Idol contestant Tarisai Vushe, X-Factor contestant Jai Waetford and crowd favourites Dauntless Movement Crew dominating the main stage.

Bring your swimmers to keep cool on a giant blow up waterslide and wrap up the day with a bang watching Council’s famous fireworks display.

On The Farm - Farmyard Friends

Cow milking shows at 5.30pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm

Getting there

Holroyd Gardens is a 5 minute walk from Merrylands Station and you can view the walking route on google maps. You can use the Trip Planner for public transport options.

Council will be operating free shuttle buses and there is limited parking near the venue.

Free Shuttle Buses

Free shuttle buses to the venue will be running at regular intervals between 5pm and 9pm. There are two different bus routes that will be operating at different times and signage will be displayed at pickup points. Pick up points are below.

Route 1 Pick Up Points between 5pm to 9pm

Route 1 will pick up residents from the following locations:

  • Holroyd Gardens, Walpole Street Merrylands
  • Wentworthville Town Centre, Dunmore Street, Wentworthville
  • Merrylands Park, Burnett Street, Merrylands
  • Holroyd Gardens, Walpole Street, Merrylands


Route 2 Pick Up Points between 5pm to 9pm

Route 2 will pick up residents from the following locations:

  • Holroyd Gardens, Walpole Street, Merrylands
  • Auburn train Station, South Parade, Auburn
  • Granville Train Station, Mary Street, Granville
  • Merrylands Strain Station Military Road Merrylands
  • Upon request after 6pm: Miller Street, Merrylands
  • Holroyd Gardens, Walpole Street, Merrylands


There is limited time restricted parking nearby on Walpole and Pitt Streets. Paid parking is available at Stocklands Mall, Merrylands.

Alcohol Free Event

Please note, this is an alcohol free event and all bags will be checked upon entry to the venue.


Holroyd Gardens is an accessible venue. A quiet ‘chill out’ zone is also offered at this event for patrons who might need time out from the crowds and noise.
