Over the past two years, Council’s Mayor Steve Christou has written to the NSW State Government including the Minister of Customer Service, the Hon. Victor Dominello, urging that the previously announced commitment to deliver a Service NSW Customer Service Centre in 2019 to be delivered to Cumberland City Council. This proposed Service NSW centre will better service Cumberland City Council residents and minimise the commute to their nearest centre. To date, no action has progressed in relation to this.
Council needs resident support to ensure action is taken to enable better facilities and services are provided to accommodate Cumberland City Council residents.
At its meeting held on 2 June 2021, Council resolved via Mayoral Minute (Min.1166):
That Council:
1. Write to the Premier of NSW and Minister for Customer Service, seeking their commitment to deliver the previously announced Service NSW Centre in Cumberland City Council, including the proposed timeframe for delivery;
2. Write to Local State Members of Parliament, urging their strong support and advocacy on this important local issue; and
3. Instigate through the Acting General Manager a community petition, to be sent to the Premier of NSW once finalised, for the immediate delivery of a Service NSW Centre in Cumberland City Council as previously announced.
Cumberland City Council is urging our community to support this petition, to enable Council to effectively lobby the NSW State Government to establish an additional Service NSW Customer Service Centre within the Cumberland LGA.
In accordance with the above Council resolution, a copy of this petition will be provided to the NSW Premier and relevant members of Parliament, urging their support at the conclusion of the petition period.
The Community ePetition will be open for a period of 28 days, allowing the Cumberland Community to support Council in lobbying the State Government. The ePetition will run from Friday 4 June – Monday 5 July.
