Join us for this free Seniors Extreme Heat Preparedness Workshop, delivered by the Australian Red Cross, and learn practical steps to protect yourself and others during hot weather and heatwaves.
Extreme heat events are becoming more frequent in Western Sydney, and seniors can be particularly vulnerable to heat related illnesses. Cumberland City Council is committed to helping our community stay safe, confident and prepared during hot weather.
Who it’s for
- Residents aged 65 years or over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents aged 50 years or over
- People with disability aged 18 years or over
- Carers of eligible participants
- Must reside within the Cumberland City Council LGA
What you’ll learn
During this interactive session, you will learn:
- How extreme heat affects your health
- Ways to stay cool and hydrated
- How to recognise early warning signs of heat stress
- How to create a simple, personalised heat plan
- What to do in an emergency
The workshop is facilitated by the Australian Red Cross, a trusted provider of emergency preparedness education across Australia.
Light refreshments will be provided.
