Cyclists of all skill levels have the chance to discover the best routes around Auburn on bike back in an Auburn Discovery Ride being held on Sunday 10 December.

Starting and ending at Auburn Botanic Gardens, riders will be shown the best way to navigate the streets and parks of Auburn as well as being guided through off road paths, back streets and points of interest, all accessible by bike.

Importantly, rides will take place at three different times in the morning, with each slot offering two different courses depending on skill level:

  • a 9.4 km ride for the more confident rider;
  • a 4.4 km ride suiting those able to ride, but not confident or quite up to riding on the road.

“Cumberland Council is pleased to be able to provide an event that caters to the cyclists in the area and I’d like to thank Addventageous and Bicycle NSW for facilitating the event,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

“The ride is not just a recreational event; it builds road awareness and increases safety for cyclists.

“We are seeing more and more cyclists on our roads, and this is a great way residents can learn how to stay safe in Cumberland when on bicycle.

“Not only that, riders who participate will discover great routes accessible by bike and local places of interest.

“The event is for people of all ages and skill levels, so if you’re interested in cycling around the area, this is a must attend ride!”

Please arrive at Auburn Botanic Gardens 30 minutes prior to your ride so you can be appropriately briefed. Parking is available.

Please ensure your bike is in a roadworthy condition and you are wearing suitable clothing for the weather on the day. A helmet is required to take part in the ride.
