Bowel Cancer Screening Program

The Australian Government, together with Cancer Council Australia, are encouraging Australians aged 50–74 to participate in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer, but 90% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated if caught early.

The majority of people who skip their bowel screening test know it’s important but, forget or are too busy. The bowel screening test is simple, free and completed at home. If you’re between the age of 50 and 74, you will receive a free bowel screening test in the mail every two years.

Once you reach the age of 50, your chance of developing bowel cancer rises. Regular screening is important as bowel cancer can occur without obvious symptoms or any family history.

Speak to your GP or health professional about the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program or find information in your language below.

For a long and healthy life with your family, do your test.
