NAIDOC Week 2025

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration in Australia that recognises and honours the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week from 6 to 13 July 2025

Originating from the 1938 Day of Mourning, NAIDOC has evolved into a nationwide event that highlights the strength, resilience, and contributions of First Nations communities. Each year, a new theme guides the week’s events and reflections.

In 2025, the theme "Next Generation Dreaming" invites all Australians to celebrate and support the voices, stories, and aspirations of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It speaks to the importance of nurturing the next generation of Elders, leaders, and knowledge-holders, as they carry forward cultural traditions while shaping a future grounded in self-determination and pride. This year's theme is a powerful reminder that the Dreaming is not only a connection to the past, but a living force carried into the future through today’s youth.

The week is a great opportunity to learn about First Nations cultures, histories and participate in a range of activities to support the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
