Lest We Forget

ANZAC Day, 25 April, remains one of the most important dates in our nation’s identity. It marks the anniversary of both Australian and New Zealand troops landing on the beaches of Gallipoli and making the ultimate sacrifice. Below is the iconic Ode of Remembrance, synonymous with ANZAC Day. It is the fourth stanza of the 1914 poem For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon. This poem is key to keeping alive the legacy of our fallen troops so they may never leave our hearts and minds. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Cumberland Youth Show Up and Show Out for Youth Week

Council held Youth Week 2025 events to celebrate the energy, creativity, and potential of the young people in our community. From sports programs and creative arts workshops to business seminars and entertainment showcases, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Supporting our youth across all areas of interest plays a key role in nurturing the next generation of leaders, and we're excited to continue creating opportunities for them to grow and shine!

Egg-cellent Easter Celebrations

I was excited to attend Council’s Easter Celebrations at Central Gardens Nature Reserve in Merrylands West. From thrilling rides and a petting zoo to arts and crafts for the children and a special visit from the Easter Bunny, there was something for everyone. The much-loved Easter Egg Hunt made a big return too, with children excitedly dashing around to find every last egg. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming community. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate this special event!

Road Renewal Works

Council has recently completed road renewal works at Third Laneway and Sixth Laneway, in between Factory Street and Clyde Street, in Granville. Across these two locations, over 880m of road was resurfaced.
