Message from the Mayor
Let's get talking!
Did you know that there are 67 different languages spoken in Cumberland? I wonder how many of you can speak more than two of them fluently without having to rely on someone else for grammar correction. Whatever language you speak, you are invited to come and share it with us at our FREE multicultural celebration where we will be marking 25 years of International Mother Language Day. It’s on Thursday, 20 February 2025, from 10am to 2pm at the Redgum Function Centre, Wentworthville. You can expect cultural arts, cool stalls, iPad demos, and tons of fun activities for everyone, children and adults alike! We can’t wait to see you there!

Slither into the Lunar New Year!
On Saturday, 8 February, we welcomed the Year of the Snake with a dazzling Lunar New Year celebration at Auburn Park! Not even the rain could stop a fun evening full of vibrant lion dances, live performances, mouthwatering food stalls, and a loud firecracker finale. It was a night to come together as a community, celebrate our rich cultural diversity, and start the year with fresh energy, good vibes, and unity. Here’s to a year of good health, happiness, and prosperity for everyone in Cumberland! Happy Lunar New Year!

Young Writers, Big Dreams
On Wednesday, 12 February, I was very proud to join our talented young writers at Cumberland’s Young Writers Awards at Granville Library. This incredible event gives emerging writers and illustrators a platform to showcase their creativity and storytelling skills. Every year, we are blown away by the bold, brilliant and occasionally witty minds behind the magic of words. Let’s continue to support and nurture these young voices who will one day be the ones telling the stories that define us. Congratulations to all the award recipients.
