Marching Forward: Celebrating Cumberland Women Who Accelerate Change!

Happy International Women’s Day (IWD) to all the incredible women of Cumberland! This IWD, we celebrate YOU, every mother, leader, volunteer, worker, changemaker and trailblazer who is shaping our community. This year, we're launching a special video campaign to highlight the diverse roles, achievements, and contributions of women in Cumberland. From women who inspire us through overcoming adversity to those who have smashed barriers and succeeded in whatever they set their minds to. Take a look around and see that we are surrounded by strength, resilience, and power. Together, we have the collective strength to create real change. Let’s continue to break barriers and support one another in building a future where gender equality is the norm, not the exception. To all the amazing women of Cumberland, thank you for all that you do. As we march forward this International Women’s Day, let's remember that in everything we do, we should be working to create a world where gender equality is not just a dream, but a reality.

Empowerment in Action: IWD Expo – Break Barriers, Build Futures

I’m excited to invite you all to join us for a very special event in honour of International Women’s Day: the ‘Empower Yourself’ Expo. It will kick off this Thursday, 6 March from 10am to 2pm at the Redgum Function Centre in Wentworthville. This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ is a powerful reminder to continue pushing for faster progress in achieving gender equality. This free event is designed to provide a supportive and resourceful environment for women, especially those who have experienced Domestic and Family Violence. Our goal is to offer the tools, guidance, and connections needed to rebuild lives and help women to advocate for themselves and their children.

Experience Ramadan Under the Stars

I am thrilled to invite you to join us for the Ramadan Street Festival on Saturday, 8 March and Sunday, 9 March, from 7pm to 12am along Auburn Road, Auburn. Come down for a magical TWO nights of food, culture, and community where the town centre will come alive with mouthwatering street food stalls and food trucks, alongside the iconic local restaurants. There will be plenty of fun for the whole family with a fun children’s corner featuring face painting, henna, glow and light up toys, showbags, hair braiding, a high jump activity by Great Western Sydney and an AFL guess the footy competition! Ramadan is a time of reflection, fasting, and spiritual growth, and it is important that we, as a diverse community, come together to support and honour this special period. Come celebrate under the stars and indulge in delicious dishes, and discover the amazing diversity that makes Cumberland such a vibrant place to live. Whether you're already familiar with Ramadan or it's your first time joining in the celebration, this is a unique experience you won’t want to miss!
