Message from the Mayor
Cumberland Marches Forward to ‘Accelerate Action’!
On Thursday, 6 March, Council hosted the International Women's Day Expo—'Empower Yourself'—at the Redgum Function Centre in Wentworthville. With the 2025 theme, 'Accelerate Action,' at the forefront, the event emphasised the urgent need for gender equality and took action to make it happen. The expo was a powerful resource hub for women rebuilding their lives after domestic and family violence. As Mayor, I take immense pride in our staff offering resources that empower every woman in our community. On the day we had booths providing legal advice, employment opportunities, training programs and tax assistance. It was truly an inspiring day, reminding us all that real change doesn’t happen without action. Together, we stand in solidarity to ensure we continue to break down barriers and drive equality within Cumberland. As they say – a rising tide lifts all ships – we need to stick together and support one another through our darkest moments.
If you or someone you know needs support regarding domestic, family or sexual violence, call 1800 RESPECT / 1800 737 732 or visit 1800RESPECT.org.au

Council Cleans Up
What an awesome day we had on Sunday, 2 March, for Clean Up Australia Day across five locations in Cumberland! Teamwork made the dream work where fellow Councillors, community groups, and residents rolled up their sleeves, gloved up, and did their bit to keep our beautiful community sparkling clean! It's truly inspiring to see everyone come together with a shared passion to encourage sustainable practices, and protect and improve the health of our Cumberland environment. We all have a part to play in keeping Cumberland clean and green, and it's so rewarding to see it in action! Together, we can make a BIG difference! A massive thank you to the incredible volunteers and Council’s environmental team for organising such an amazing event! I can't wait to do it again next year!
