Council marks National Child Protection Week
To mark National Child Protection Week, Council held the Safe Kids Day to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. Jointly hosted by Council and the Integrated Violence Prevention and Response Service (IVPRS), the free event featured information about body safety and emotional literacy for young children (aged 3 to 5), plus a range of family activities and meet and greets from local services.
In addition, Council also hosted the annual 2024 Local Government Child Protection Forum. Since 2018, this forum has become a cornerstone event for councils across New South Wales, drawing hundreds of attendees from across the state each year. National Child Protection Week, which was held from September 1-7, had the theme ‘Every Conversation Matters’, which encouraged constructive dialogues to highlight the importance of child protection. Conversations are powerful tools that help us better understand the issues and foster discussions that lead to collaborative solutions.
