Being a parent is one of the most important and rewarding roles in life—but it can also be challenging.
Cumberland City Council is offering 20 local parents the opportunity to take part in the award-winning, evidence-based program: Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK).
Developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation, the program is designed to help parents and carers understand children’s development, learn effective parenting styles, and improve communication with their child. Independently evaluated by the Australian Institute of Family Studies, BUGK has been recognised nationally for excellence in child protection and multicultural engagement.
What you'll gain from the program:

- Learn effective, mindful ways to communicate with your child
- Encourage your child's positive self-identity and emotional development
Eligibility
- You must be a resident of Cumberland City Council.
- You must be a parent or guardian of a child / children aged 0 to 12 years.
- You must be able to attend all four sessions in full.
Important information
- Children cannot participate—please arrange care for them for the duration of the program.
- All facilitators are mandatory reporters.
