GWS Giants AFLW and Western Sydney Wanderers W-League star Ellie Brush will be hosting two school holiday sports clinics exclusively for Cumberland residents in January 2019.

Ellie will host an AFL Clinic on Tuesday 15 January 2019 at Daniel Street Park Greystanes, from 9 – 11am and a soccer clinic on Wednesday 23 January 2019 at Ray Marshall Reserve, South Granville from 9am – 11am. Both clinics are available for kids aged five to 12 who live in the Cumberland Council area.

Mayor Greg Cummings said the clinics were a great way for kids to stay active and healthy during the school holidays without costing parents a cent.

“We’re looking forward to having Ellie Brush here in Cumberland teaching and inspiring the next generation of young sports stars,” Mayor Cummings said.

“Ellie is an accomplished athlete who has reached the highest level of competition in two completely different sports – AFL and soccer.

“Ellie represented her country with the Matildas soccer team while playing for the Western Sydney Wanderers. She now plays AFL with the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL Women’s League.

“We love sports in Cumberland and summer is one of the best times to be outdoors. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve played AFL or soccer before, all children are welcome to attend.

“This is a great opportunity to learn new skills or develop them further. The Ellie Brush sports clinics are completely free but bookings are essential and can be made online at cumberland.nsw.gov.au/events.

“I encourage everyone to make the most of the wonderful sports fields and open spaces we have in Cumberland. Parents can be assured their kids won’t be bored these holidays.

“The sports clinics are just one of many activities we have running during the summer break. We have a jam packed school holiday program for kids from three years up to 18.

“Kids can learn how to code, design, dance, swim, go indoor sky diving, rock climb, play footy and challenge themselves on an obstacle course. Visit our website to see what’s happening.”
