Mayor Steve Christou is urging all clubs and teams using Council’s sportsgrounds and facilities to adhere to the latest Public Health Order provided by NSW Health and be vigilant in carrying out their COVID-19 plans.

The Order on Gathering and Movement restricts the number of people allowed on a premises to the ‘one person per 4 square metre rule’.

“An amendment has been made to the Order that introduces new requirements to deal with the public health risk of COVID-19,” said Mayor Steve Christou.

“Sportsgrounds hirers must ensure they adhere to their COVID-19 Safety Plan. A copy should be kept handy when using Council’s sporting facilities.

“All hirers must maintain daily attendance records for four weeks along with ensuring there is adequate signage advice on hygiene, social distancing and isolation for those that are unwell.

“Council will undertake checks on sportsgrounds to ensure that community groups are following their COVID-19 Safety Plan,” said Mayor Christou. “All observations gathered from these inspections will be reported to Council, NSW Health and NSW Police.

“Please be diligent with carrying out your COVID-19 Safety Plan for the safety of your clubs and the wider community. Council will continue to follow public health advice to navigate these circumstances.”

A COVID-19 Safety Marshall must also be appointed to ensure a Safety Plan is implemented. There are no exemptions from providing a COVID-19 Safety Plan, and all sportsgrounds hirers must provide Council a copy of their COVID-19 Safety Plan prior to any facility use.
