Auburn is set to be transformed into a vibrant food festival over one big night as thousands of people celebrate Ramadan.

“This food festival allows us to celebrate faith, reflection, hospitality, generosity and coming together as one community,” said Mayor Steve Christou.

“It’s an incredible celebration for the residents of Auburn, it’s a beautiful atmosphere and it’s also extremely good for our local economy.

“Last year’s event attracted thousands of people to the streets of Auburn. We expect the event will be bigger and better this year.”

This year’s festival spans across a larger foot print that includes family friendly activities, rides and workshops.

“It’s going to be a family friendly atmosphere with food trucks, local community organisations and legendary restaurants coming together,” said Mayor Christou.

“We encourage local residents to come down and see what Ramadan is all about.”

When: Saturday, 9 May 2020 (5pm to 10pm)

Where: Auburn Town centre, including Auburn Road, Mary Street, Harrow Road, Queen Street and Auburn Central

Getting there: The festival is a 2 minute walk from Auburn Train Station. Limited parking is available at Susan Street Carpark.

Around half of Cumberland residents were born overseas. Residents originate from more than 150 countries of birth, and more than half of our residents speak a language other than English.
