The winners of the 2019 Cumberland Local Heritage Awards were announced at a ceremony tonight in Merrylands.

“Our Heritage Program, which includes these awards is just one way Council is preserving and celebrating the history of our community. It gives us an opportunity to honour our local history and the importance of maintaining our heritage sites,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

“This year we’ve had an impressive array of entries, particularly for our children’s heritage awards which featured written entries and artworks celebrating Cumberland’s cultural diversity.

“Congratulations to all the recipients and entrants for your efforts in supporting and promoting heritage in Cumberland.”
