Cumberland playgrounds to close amid stricter COVID-19 measures

Council-owned playgrounds will close across the Cumberland City Local Government Area to help contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Playgrounds will be closing from Monday (30 March 2020) and signage will be put in these spaces to alert residents,” said General Manager Hamish McNulty.

“The community may notice reduced service levels across the LGA for our parks during this time, but please continue to raise any issues with us. The focus at the moment is on delivering core services and ensuring public safety.

“We understand that these are challenging times and appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we take appropriate action to keep you safe.”

The following essential services will continue to operate under Council:

  • Waste collection services
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Street sweeping services
  • Attendance to Council's garden fauna
  • The Planning Panel
  • Health Officers
  • Road Safety Officers
  • Records Department
  • Mail services
