A new multi-use community sports pavilion at Granville Park, Merrylands, is a step closer to becoming a reality with demolition works beginning at the site.

In January the NSW Government announced that Cumberland Council had been successful in securing a $2.74 million grant for the facility. The design of the new facility is currently being completed.

The upgrade will include grandstand seating for 1500, change rooms, kiosk, referee and medical rooms, a gym, office and social function space. In addition, the field will be resurfaced with upgrades to lighting, fencing and irrigation.

Mayor Greg Cummings said “This is a win for both Granville and Greater Western Sydney. The project responds to strong community feedback, projected population increases and a need to plan early for future infrastructure requirements.”
