 Waste collection and illegal dumping

Cumberland Council is using an online app developed in partnership with OneBlink, which gives residents an opportunity book a collection service, get tips on what Council will collect and report illegal dumping.

“We want clean streets across Cumberland and the OneBlink app is proving to be a great tool that is giving residents a quick and easy way to notify Council about waste services and report illegal dumping,” said Mayor Greg Cummings.

“We have been able to dramatically improve the customer service experience for booking services like clean-ups. This app, in addition to increasing the size and frequency of collections, is making a real difference.

“We want residents to know that the app is available to them, free-of-charge and that they can book up to four free council collections per year for up to two cubic square metres of items.”

App features include:

  • ability to book collections on set dates
  • collection confirmation and reminder emails
  • option to report illegally dumped rubbish along with uploading supporting photos; and
  • information about other Council services.

The number of services booked has been increasing each month as more residents have become aware of the convenience of the service. Over 100,000 bookings have been made using the app since going live in October 2017.

The app can be accessed via Council’s website at: https://www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/environment/waste-and-recycling/book-council-clean-up. Council collections and illegal dumping can also be reported to Council by calling (02) 8757 9000.
