This year’s Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off on Saturday (17 August), bringing you a festival all about food, flowers and feeling good.
This year the Festival boasts a number of special theme days to inspire visitors of every age and experience. There are special days for kids, schools and seniors as well as social media friendly days.
With Cherry Blossoms a barometer for changing weather patterns, the gardening themed day on Tuesday, 20 August will have a strong focus on sustainability and living harmoniously with nature. Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis is headlining the Garden Day.
Highlights for Garden Day include:
- public talks and Q&A with Costa
- native Australian Bonsai workshops
- ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) demonstrations
- Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing) tours
- the Cherry Trail: self-guided tours of the Japanese Gardens
- Sustainability Market Place
In a first for the Festival, television host and Official Goodwill Ambassador for Japanese Cuisine, Adam Liaw has also designed a special bento box for hungry festival-goers.

Where: Auburn Botanic Gardens - Chisholm and Chiswick Road, Auburn
Cost: $10 for tickets purchased online. Cumberland residents and children under 16 have free entry. Tickets sold at the box office will attract an administration fee.
