Political Donations and Gifts Disclosure Register

Cumberland City Council requires public disclosure of donations and gifts.

Maintaining transparency within planning and development

Council complies with the State law that requires public disclosure of donations or gifts to Councillors or Council Officials when lodging or commenting on development proposals.

This law is designed to improve the transparency of the planning system.

  • A disclosure of a political donation or gift needs to be made whenever a person or their associate lodges a planning application or makes a public submission about a development application (DA).
  • A political donation must be reported if it equates to $1000 or more as either a single donation or multiple donations within the same financial year.

As outlined in the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, disclosures will be made available on Council’s website within 14 days of submission.
