Cumberland Council will be administering over $1 million worth of grants for local community groups through the latest Clubs for Cumberland Grants which open at 9am on Monday 9 April 2018.

Clubs for Cumberland Grants scheme encourages local clubs to give back to their community by allowing those with gaming machine profits over $1 million to apply for a tax rebate. This rebate is then used to provide grants to community organisations.

Mayor Greg Cummings said the Clubs for Cumberland Grants are a fantastic opportunity for organisations to gain extra funds to support projects and services that assist people within the Cumberland Local Government Area.

Community organisations play an invaluable role in Cumberland, delivering services and support to those most in need. Last year we were able to award over $1.1 million worth of Club Grant funds to 71 projects and services, and Council is looking forward to being able to provide that level of support once again,” Mayor Cummings said.

“Council are hosting free information sessions and workshops throughout April to help explain the grant process, how applications will be assessed, how to prepare a successful application and offering feedback.

“I encourage organisations to take advantage of the free help on offer. The information sessions are a good opportunity to learn about the grants and also meet potential project partners which can increase your projects impact in the community.

“The funding priorities this year are for a broad range of projects promoting community safety, education and employment, health and wellbeing, social cohesion and participation, sustainability, and youth.

“We know these grants would not happen without the ongoing contribution of local clubs, and Council recognises their support in allowing these valued community projects to continue. Participating clubs in 2018 are:

  • Auburn Soccer Sports Club
  • Auburn Tennis and Recreational Club
  • DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club
  • Granville Diggers
  • Guildford Leagues
  • Club Merrylands Bowling
  • Merrylands RSL
  • Wenty Leagues

Clubs for Cumberland applications open 9am Monday 9 April 2018 and close 4pm, Monday 7 May 2018. For more information contact Council’s Grants Officer on 8757 9800 or visit www.cumberland.nsw.gov.au/clubgrants.
