Council is calling on the community to contribute to the development of Cumberland’s first Culture and Activation Strategy; helping inform future planning of programs, services, operations and infrastructure in arts and culture.

“We’re proud to be one of Sydney’s most culturally diverse places and we believe our community are our greatest asset,” Mayor Greg Cummings said.

“We want to work with the community to better understand and plan for this diverse community's vibrant cultural life.

“We want to know where you experience culture across Cumberland through a number of different avenues such as arts, architecture, history, language, food, digital, music, education, leisure, religion, neighbourhoods, work and daily life.

“Tell us by participating at haveyoursay.cumberland.nsw.gov.au, using our online mapping and storytelling tools, or join us in person at one of our upcoming workshops.”

Workshops will be held from 6 - 8pm on Tuesday 21 August 2018, at Granville Town Hall and from 10am – 12pm on Thursday 23 August at Wentworthville Community Centre. Light refreshments will be provided.

“Cumberland has a lot to offer - from the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival and Refugee Camp in My Neighbourhood to Flavours of Auburn walking tours and cooking classes, plus various exhibitions at the Peacock Gallery,” Mayor Cummings continued.

“We pride ourselves on the variety of arts and events that activate our community and our town centres.

“This is a Council and a community wishing to push the boundaries of culture, arts and activation to create unique experiences not found anywhere else in Sydney.

“This strategy will promote access to arts and culture, and contribute towards making Cumberland an even greater place to live, work and play.”
