Cumberland Council will be bringing the spirit of Christmas to the Auburn Botanic Gardens with its FREE Christmas in the Gardens event on Saturday 9 December from 5pm to 9pm.

The gardens will be decked out with Christmas lights, and will feature a line-up of festive carols, songs and entertainment, special guest appearances from Santa Claus and the Gingerbread man, plus a range of festive activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said the event is a great opportunity for the community to come together, spread Christmas cheer and explore the Auburn Botanic Gardens.

“This event will bring the community together to unite, share in the joy of the season, celebrate our diversity and reflect on everything that we have accomplished throughout the year by spending time with our friends and family,” said Mayor Lake.

“Christmas is a timely reminder that Cumberland is a place for everyone, regardless of our cultural backgrounds, a place where we can all share in the spirit of Christmas, and celebrate one another.”

Santa Claus and the Gingerbread Man will be making a pit stop at the event to meet all the good girls and boys, and will also be available for photos. Children will be able to write Santa a letter sharing their wishes and pop it into his mailbox. Christmas fairies will be floating around the gardens, alongside a roving Christmas magician performing magic tricks and Pro Hula Hoop Performer, Shiho Sparkle Hooper.

Children are invited to take part in Christmas craft activities including gingerbread decorating, elf ears making and angel colouring-in, plus children’s sporting activities and face painting. There will be a range of vendors serving up ice cream, gozleme, as well as toys and showbags.
