It’s time for senior members in Cumberland City to celebrate as Cumberland City Council delivers an engaging mix of events and online activities this month over 10 days, as part of the annual Seniors Festival running from 25 March until 3 April.

With this year’s theme being ‘Reconnect’, Cumberland City Council will be hosting a range of free lunches, morning teas, talent shows, health and technology webinars, bus trips, golf day and more to support senior residents in the community reconnect with people, music, activities, libraries, and services, all within COVID-safe settings.

The Seniors Festival aims to acknowledge the important roles seniors play in our society and allows them to be more active and socially connected in their later years. Mayor of Cumberland Lisa Lake paid tribute to the valuable contribution seniors have made to the community over the years and said that their experience and wisdom have had a significant influence in shaping our values and way of Life.

“We have so many valued seniors over the age of 60 that make up 15 percent of our population, and have put a lot of time and effort into helping our community thrive to make Cumberland a more vibrant place to live. It’s important that we recognise and celebrate their role.”

“This festival will be a great opportunity for our seniors to actively participate in the community, try new experiences or even learn new skills, so we are delighted to offer this program that will enable their continued involvement in community life.“

“After months of distancing, it’s time to come together and reconnect in person and online with fun and entertaining events and activities that this festival has to offer. I encourage all our seniors to get involved, as there is something for everyone”, said Mayor Lisa Lake.
